The role of this blog is different than many art blogs. Here I am going to share my approach to painting and sketching and share my techniques so that is easy for the reader to follow in my footsteps and then, of course, modify them to meet your needs.

I am going to start with making your own canvases - much better quality and much less expensive. This will be the first set of blog posts. Then we'll focus on using heavy duty water color paper, and if you are using oil paiints (which I do), the need for puttng multiple layers of gesso. Then we'll move onto the various approaches to startng a painting, and then finishing a painting.
